So, in honor of Teacher`s Week, I decided to talk about the gods of knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence by alphabetical order.
Athena- So, you guys know the term "brain goddess"? No? Well, meet the goddess Athena, who was literally born out of her father`s head! So, this wisdom goddess was said to have invented weaving, spiders, and the olive tree. Athena was also Odysseus` divine counselor, because Odysseus used his wits in his adventures.
Benzaiten- Benzaiten is the Japanese-Buddhist goddess of everything that flows: water, time, words, speech, eloquence, music, and by extension, knowledge. Wow, she must have been a really groovy goddess.
Chitragupta- Chitragupta is the god of justice and knowledge who judges the souls of dead humans to check if they were good or bad. He apparently makes wisdom cookies.
Enki- Enki is the Sumerian god of mischief, water, and wisdom. I`ve got a pretty accurate guess for his favorite color: blue.
Fukurokuju- Fukurokuju is the Japanese god of wisdom and longevity. According to the old stories, he used to be a philosopher that could survive without eating food. He`s also known for his ability to revive the dead...*cries because my maternal grandfather died*
Guan Yu- Guan Yu is the Chinese god of military exams. He`s often portrayed as a red-faced warrior with a long, lush beard. I think he needs to trim his beard..
Hayagriva- Hayagriva is a horse-headed avatar of Lord Vishnu who had the head of a white horse and sat on a white lotus. I wonder if he eats grass.
Isis- Isis is the Egyptian goddess of magic and wisdom. She knew everyone`s names, so I wonder if she knows mine...
Menrva- Menrva is the Etruscan goddess of wisdom and weaving. Wait, where have we heard this before?
Neith- Neith is the Egyptian goddess of hunting who was sometimes associated with wisdom. I can`t believe she wove the entire world! I MEAN, HOW HARD IS THAT!
Orunmila- Orunmila is the Yoruba god of wisdom who gave humanity, wisdom, so basically he gave humans knowledge of how to solve math problems, read, and a bunch of other things.
